The edge came off the stone screaming sharp and held through a full afternoon of oak; that century of tool-making experience really shows in the steel.

The edge geometry out of the box is exactly what I expect from a European-style carving tool—the bevels are even and the steel feels properly hardened. I’ve been using the shallow gouge for relief work all afternoon and it holds its bite through walnut without needing a touch-up.

Haven't even sharpened them yet and they're holding an edge straight out of the box—the bevels are ground perfectly symmetrical, which I rarely see. You can tell a century of toolmaking went into the steel, they feel solid and balanced in the hand for long carving sessions.
