Mixing this reducer with a bit of leftover stain gave me exactly the custom light oak shade I was after. It thins the color without watering down the finish, and the water-based formula cleans up easily with soap and water.

I’ve been using this reducer to tweak the color intensity of some shop-made stains, and it blends into the wood without any sticky residue. The clear base mixes easily and keeps the final coat transparent, which is exactly what I needed for subtle toning work.

I mixed this with a little of my existing dye stain to create a softer color for a maple shelf, and it worked perfectly without any cloudiness. The reducer blended in smoothly and didn't alter the finish's consistency at all.
