Drilling into hard maple, this bit stayed dead center and left a finish so clean I barely needed to sand. The black coating seems to reduce heat buildup noticeably.

The carbide tips on these Forstner bits cut through oak end grain like it's soft pine, and the shavings come out in clean ribbons instead of dust. I've used cheaper bits that burned their way through, but these stayed sharp and cool after a whole afternoon of boring holes for a workbench build.

I've been drilling shelf pin holes in birch plywood all week and these leave edges so clean I barely touched them with sandpaper. The carbide tips are still sharp after maybe 60 holes, which my old HSS set never managed.
