I was skeptical about swapping inserts instead of the whole plate, but the zero-clearance fit really does eliminate the chipping I used to get on plywood. Took less than a minute to swap one out mid-project, and the cut quality stayed consistent the whole time.

Fitting the insert took me a minute to get the hang of, but once it's seated, the zero-clearance support around the blade is a huge improvement over the stock plate for preventing tear-out on plywood. It's nice that I can just swap in a new insert instead of buying a whole new throat plate each time
