Towards the late 17th century, Great Britain was a growing world power and trading nation. This led to an economic boom and there were more people in Britain that could afford opulent homes and furniture. The notable makers of the time, such as Garret Johnson and Grinling Gibbons, sacrificed strength for style, incorporating curved classical rounded shapes into the moldings of furniture. These profiles evolved from the classical Greek and Roman shapes as used by famous architects and designers Christopher Wren (designer of St. Paul's Cathedral in London) and William Kent to name a few.

Thomas ★★★★★

The profile on this bit is crisp and exactly matches the historical molding references I was trying to replicate. It cuts smoothly through oak without any burning, and the 1/2" shank keeps it stable in the router.

Julian ★★★★★

Finally a router bit that lives up to the historical inspiration—the molding profile came out crisp and clean on my white oak, no tear-out at all. The 1/2" shank gripped solidly in my table router, and the small details in the cut really capture that 17th century look I was chasing.

Owen L. ★★★★★

Cut this through some walnut crown molding today and the profile came out crisp with zero tear-out, even on the end grain. The 1/2" shank runs true without any vibration at high speed, which made the whole job feel effortless.
