Towards the late 17th century, Great Britain was a growing world power and trading nation. This led to an economic boom and there were more people in Britain that could afford opulent homes and furniture. The notable makers of the time, such as Garret Johnson and Grinling Gibbons, sacrificed strength for style, incorporating curved classical rounded shapes into the moldings of furniture. These profiles evolved from the classical Greek and Roman shapes as used by famous architects and designers Christopher Wren (designer of St. Paul's Cathedral in London) and William Kent to name a few.

Claire X. ★★★★★

I've been adding some period-appropriate trim to my bookcases, and the sharp profiles on this 1/2-inch shank bit cut cleanly through red oak without burning. The base molding shape matches the historical drawings I've been referencing, which is exactly what I needed.

Miles ★★★★★

Gave my router table a proper crown molding profile for the first time, and the 1/2" shank kept it stable with zero chatter. Cut clean through poplar without burning, though it took a couple passes to get the depth dialed in. Pretty happy with the results for the price.

Avery ★★★★★

Finally got around to testing it on some oak base molding, and the profile came out crisp with zero burning. The bit held its edge through a full 12-foot run, which surprised me for the price.
