General Finishes Water Based Wood Stains are formulated to provide workability similar to oil-based stains. They spread easily, can be repaired, blend effortlessly and have plenty of open time. The thicker formula of these wood stains allows for controlled penetration, and their high-quality pigments produce rich, dark, uniform colors on hard-to-stain woods like maple and pine. Low odor, low VOC, water cleanup and noncombustible.

Leo N. ★★★★★

The open time on this stain is fantastic—I could blend and rework areas for several minutes without any lap marks showing up. The pecan color went on smoothly and really brought out the grain in my oak table.

Hazel K. ★★★★★

I was nervous about switching from oil-based stains, but this water-based one spreads just as easily and the Pecan color came out rich and even on my oak table.

Carter W. ★★★★★

The open time is what sold me—I could keep fussing with the grain and blending edges without it grabbing or drying patchy. It went on as smooth as any oil-based stain I’ve used, and cleanup was just soap and water.
